Paul Mason: A Musical Journey
Paul Mason whose remarkable talent and deep passion for music have earned him recognition both in Australia and internationally. As the long-time lead guitarist for Jessica Mauboy, Paul showcases his exceptional skill and versatility, contributing to her dynamic sound. He is also a founding member of the rock band BattleSnake, where he has helped shape their musical identity on a global scale.
His contributions to the music industry have not gone unnoticed over the years. In 2013, he was recognized as a finalist in the National Jazz Awards at Wangaratta, with led to enhancing and establishing his reputation as a top-tier musician. Then, in 2016, Paul was honoured as the top choice in the Happy Music Blog’s “Top 20 Australian Guitarists You Need in Your Life.”
Throughout his career, Paul has had the privilege of sharing the stage with numerous music legends including Sting, Harry Connick Jr., Christine Anu, Kate Miller-Heidke, Vera Blue, Rai Thistlethwaite from Thirsty Merc, Brett Garsed (John Farnham), and iconic jazz artist James Morrison. Notably, it was James Morrison who first awarded Paul a scholarship at the Generations in Jazz festival while he was still pursuing his high school education. He is also well known for his collaborative work with the likes of Jessica Mauboy and Timothy Bowen and has also fulfilled guitar duties for artists such as Clare Bowen, Vera Blue and Steve Clisby.
He has an exceptional background and experience that comes through with his musicianship in playing as a solo artist or as a band. Live performances of this work see him combining his unique and breathy voice, coupled with clever contemporary song-writing that connect perfectly with his distinctive flare and formidable prowess on the guitar.
In addition to collaborating with other artists, Paul’s solo endeavours have gained significant acclaim. His heartfelt tribute concert titled “Paul Mason Plays the Music of Jeff Beck” has captivated audiences across Australia with sold-out performances at prestigious venues such as Factory Theatre in Sydney and Her Majesty’s Theatre during the Adelaide International Guitar Festival.
Paul headlined on the main stage at the 2025 Melbourne Guitar Show and performed at Girakool Music Festival—events that just further solidify his status as one of Australia’s premier musicians. With over 15 years dedicated to his craft, Paul Mason continues to inspire audiences with his artistry and dedication to elevating musical experiences nationwide.
